2012 Mustang GT Premium - The story

I bought the 2012 as a present to myself for getting everything back on track. She came from Grapevine Ford, and I picked her up in July of 2011. I went to look at an '04 Mach 1 with under 15,000 miles, a sweet car to be sure, but after driving a plain jane 2011 (black with gray cloth, no nav, no sync, etc) I was hooked on the new 5.0 engine. We struck a deal on the black car, but ran out of time that day, so I went to work that night, and discovered that my employer offered X Plan discounts for Fords. I filled out the application, and by the time I got back to teh dealer the next morning, there had been an "issue" with the 2011, and this 2012 was awaiting my approval. She has everythign but the Brembo package, the Nav system and the glass roof. Kona Blue metallic (made me forget all about my other favorite blue, Sonic), charcoal leather interior, MT82 6 speed manual (the black car was as automatic), 3.55 gears, and on and on.
At first, I couldn't bring myself to mod her in any way, couldn't find anythign that I felt like I needed to change. That lasted right up until I read the 5.0 Shootout article in 5.0 magazine. Basically, there were people running into the 11's with noting more than a tune and some sticky tires. I ordered a canned tune from Justin at VMP Tuning in Florida, a set of Pypes muffler deletes from American Muscle and a set of MT ET Radials for my Race Stars, loaded it all up and drove out to Maryland in October and ran 12.107 at 115 before frying the clutch on a botched burn out. I feel like 11's were there if I could have made a few more runs, but I was very happy with the end results. I have a few more goodies to go on her (aluminum 1 pc drive shaft, CAI) and I'm going to let True Street do a custom tune after installing everything. After that, it's time to enjoy her as is, and get started on the new project.
